Willy Calderon is a professional touring and recording percussionist, producer and composer. He is the founder and musical director of The L.A. Impromptu Orchestra, a prestigious, Los Angeles based all-star band specializing in latin forms of salsa, jazz, son and folkloric popular music. He is also the founder of Tokyo Legends.
Willy came from a musical family and was raised in Los Angeles by his mother, Jeanine Rosales. A natural in the art of music since infancy, he started his professional career at the early age of 13. Specializing as a percussionist, Calderon is also professionally proficient on piano and bass. He also composes scores for video games and produces for various artists. Calderon has collaborated with, produced for or toured the world with world-class pop, hip-hop and latin artists such as Grupo Niche, Sublime (w/Rome), Guayacán Orquesta, Sheila E., Luis Conte, Kensman, Fruko y Sus Tesos, Marcus Miller and most recently, Bruno Mars. The artist also participated in production for master film composer, Hans Zimmer, in the final installment of the Batman trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises.” As a composer, he has worked with video game company, Nintendo, providing trailer music and more.
