Incluso le hace un breve homenaje al legendario «Cachao» Lopez. Pero no. El montuno agresivo y los solos instrumentales nos recuerdan aquellos días de gloria de la Salsa. Pero el viaje se desvía ya que la música toma elementos del hip-hop y de los modales del jazz para mantenerse fresca y moderna. A veces son las narraciones urbanas en inglés encima del montuno. Otras veces son los buenos soneos en español seguidos de solos instrumentales al estilo del jazz. Los arreglos te mantienen atento, adivinando que vendrá despues. The Los Angeles-born and raised musician just submitted his latest record L.A. Impromptu to the Recording Academy for consideration in the Best Tropical Latin Album category. The independently produced album is the first record by Willy Calderon & the L.A. Impromptu Orchestra, a band that brings together Southern California-based tropical talent like Grammy Award winner Luis Conte, Brigido “Macondo” Chaverra and Alberto Salas. The ensemble mixes salsa with jazz, son and other popular genres. “L.A.
